You should make your application well in advance of the planned travel date. You are advised to apply ONE month in advance but no earlier than THREE months.
Usually, it takes four working days to issue the visa. However, you should be aware that actual processing time may be longer than that posted on the web site in certain circumstances. If there is such a delay, you will be notified by the Visa Centre staff.
You need to apply the visa at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal:
X1 Visa: Issued to those who intend to study in China for a period of more than 180 days.
X2 Visa: Issued to those who intend to study in China for a period of no more than 180 days.
1. Basic Documents
Visa Application Form and Photo
Application Form and Additional Application Form with a recently-taken color photo glued to.
Valid passport and a copy of information page
JW201 or JW202 form
Original and a copy of Foreign Student Visa Application JW201 Form issued by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. Original and a copy of JW202 Form are required for the application of short-term study and further education which is less than six months.)
Original and copy of Admission Notice issued by the university or institute in China
Original and copy of foreigner's physical examination record
Foreigners who want to apply for Chinese Medical Internship should provide the original and copy of Application Form for Medical Internship and Admission Notice for training in practice issued by the university in China.
Personal written statement (covering letter with details as follows: place to visit, name, address and contact number of the inviting / contact institute or person).

The holder of X visa is kindly reminded to go through the procedures for obtaining the residence permit for aliens at the local public security bureau within 30 days after entry to avoid illegal stay.
2. Special Notes
Visa application could be delivered to the Consular Section of the Embassy either by the applicant or the entrusted travel agencies. Visa application by mail is not accepted.
If necessary, the applicant may be required to take an interview.
To provide false information, use fake documents, or fail to fill the visa application form truly and completely may result in the refusal of the visa.
You need to pay both the visa fee charged by the Chinese Embassy.
Note: If the visa is needed earlier, additional urgent fee will be charged.
